|'Barton' is an excellent selection for zones 6-8.
An early flowerer, bracts are large, white, and overlapping. Dogwoods in general are an understory, deciduous tree, with horizontal to upright branching form is often overplanted, but always loved. With year round interest, it offers white to pink spring flowers, distinctive, oval, vertically curved leaves, red to purple fall color and red winter berries. Perfect along the woods edge, in combination with azaleas and rhododendons or as a small, specimen lawn tree. Requires well-drained, acidic soil, rich in organic matter. Many named cultivars available.
Important Info : Best in partial shade, but if planted in full sun, MUST receive adequate water. Not a drought or pollution tolerant plant. Mulch well to keep shallow roots cool and retain valuable moisture.
