| Fast growing, dense, rounded tree with nearly spineless shoots. Grows 20 feet tall and wide. Dark green leaves are pinnate to 12 inches long, with up to 23 lance-shaped leaflets. Bears very few, if any, flowers.
With judicious pruning while young, this very common and too often neglected tree, can be quite nice. Though a popular street tree, it really should not be used close to power lines where mature, hard wood has to be pruned.
'Umbraculifera' is usually grafted on another variety. |
