| Aureo-variegata is a variegated form, one of the few shrubs that maintain their variegations in full sun and hot summer weather. This cultivar is an evergreen shrub, with an upright habit and an umbrella shaped top. It can accept pruning to keep it smaller, or trained as a tree with it's attractive curving trunk. The leaves have brilliant yellow blotches with green edges and are oval in shape 1 to 2 inches long, with a glossy, leathery texture. Pest and disease problems seem to damper the possibilities. Watch for scale, thrips, or spider mites, as well as powdery mildew, where air is stagnant and humid. Locate in full sun to prevent mildew. |
