| This lovely plant, traditionally associated with Hawaii, is usually grown as a houseplant on the mainland. Leaves are glossy and dark green, to
6 inches long, and are ovate, with a finely toothed edge. Large, delicate flowers with five petals reach up to 5 inches across. Distinctive long stamens extend out from the center. 'Cooperi' is a compact, dwarf cultivar, growing 3-6 feet tall, that bears olive green and white variegated leaves and bright red blooms. Commonly grown outside year round in frost free areas. May be pruned to keep size in check. |
