| Fagus orientalis is a spreading tree with leaves that are ovate or elliptic with wavy toothed margins, glossy, dark green, turning yellow-brown in the fall. The bark is smooth and silvery. This species is native of S.E. Europe, N. Iran and S.W. Asia and are valued for their form and foliage. This makes a good specimen tree or a nice addition to a woodland garden. It can grow in a wide variety of soils, but salty soil stunts growth. |
