| Sedum acre or Golden Carpet Sedum is a very rapidly creeping species forming a mat, too quickly for some rock gardens. The leaves are triangular in cross section, the yellow flowers bloom in early to mid summer. It is a native of North Africa, West Asia and Europe.
Vigorous, evergreen perennial with mat-forming growth habit. Variety elegans has fleshy stems bearing terminal rosettes of stiff, spoon shaped, medium green leaves with silver tips, to 3/4 inch long. Bright yellow flowers are star shaped 1/2 inch across, held on short stems, and borne in flat cymes. Sedums are excellent grown in the rock garden, containers between stepping stones or in wall niches. |
