| There are roughly 200 species in this genus, most of which are native to Africa and Madagascar. The species consists of both evergreen and deciduous trees and shrubs. Leaves can be either lobed or unlobed, simple or heart-shaped. Flowers are pink, white, yellow and sometimes red, and are the real reason this plant is grown. As a houseplant, water well and give bright light. Outdoors, plant in fertile, moist, well-drained soil in part shade. |
