| Acer buergeranum is a smaller deciduous maple tree, reaching 20 to 35 feet tall, with a similar spread. Growth habit is extremely rounded to oval with a tendency to multiple stems. The bark develops a scaly texture and is gray-brown to orange-brown. New foliage has a rich bronze or purple cast, summer leaves are dark green and fall produces yellow, orange and red colors. Greenish flowers on corymbs, appear in late spring, and are inconspicous. Prefers acidic, well drained soil and full sun. Although may contract pests that other maples are subject to, it is generally not seriously affected. Excellent small maple for street, patio or lawn use, can also be container planted or made into bonsai. Native to China. |
