| Shorter variety than most, also is thinner and weeps. This tree has white bark and small gray-green leaves with red stems. It will flower heavily in late winter to early spring with light pink, rose-like flowers and will continue to bloom lightly throughout the year. Bell shapes, lavender seed pods are about 1 inch long. This variety doesn't do too well in strong wind or heavy soil. The foliage of nearly all species has a strong pungent odor similar to menthol. Well drained soil is preferable. Trees do very well planted from seed. Plant seeds in spring or summer keep shaded and water sparingly until 2 to 3 inches high. |
