| 'Titan" is a dense, upright, deciduous shrub, to 12 feet in height, often with spiny branches. The leaves are olive green with a silver tinge above and silvery-green with brown scales below. The stems are a silver-brown with brownish scales that give it a speckled aspect. It produces highly fragrant, small, bright yellow flowers in early summer. The round fruits are initially silver covered with brown scales, later turning red. The fruits are borne abundantly, and birds love them and spread their seeds, thus this plant has become a noxious weed in some areas. Native to China, Korea, and Japan, introduced in 1830. |
