| Evergreen or semi-evergreen perennial that forms mounded clumps of leathery, glossy, 2 to 5 1/2 inches long scalloped leaves. Foliage is brownish-purple with light purple and silver variegation. Leaf undersides are maroon. Flowers are borne on 12 inch long, wirey-stemmed panicles in early summer. Native to central and eastern North America. |
