| H. johnsonii makes a large bulb, which blooms on a 2 foot stem, 3 to 4 tubular flowers of brilliant scarlet, streaked with white. Hippeastrum is a native of tropical America and known as the equestrian star-flower. Flowers bloom 2 to 6 across on a hollow stem, usually up to 3 feet tall. |
