( Gay Blade Holly )
| Ilex cornuta is a large, evergreen shrub with lustrous dark green, often spiny, blocky to oval-shaped leaves, 2 to 3 inches long. Heavy crops of red or yellow berries, to 1/2 inch in diameter, remain throughout the winter. Effective hedge, screen, espalier, or garden specimen. Older plants may be pruned into small tree. Easy and durable. Extremely heat and drought tolerant. Does well in full sun or part shade in almost any soil. |
| Important Info : Seedling discovered in 1950's at Wight Nursery. No longer in production but a few plants can be found in home plantings from Cairo, Georgia. |
