( Golden Hubbard Squash )
| 'Golden Hubbard', a popular subvariety of 'Hubbard' is an heirloom variety squash. Vines produce ripe fruits in 100 days, which measure 15 by 10 inches, and weighes 9 to 12 pounds. The skin is rough and warty, and orange-red with some pale stripes in the ribs and a dark green patch on the blossom end. The flesh is light yellow in color, and well-suited for cooking.
Small pumpkins are grown for cooking and eating, while the larger sizes are for Jack-o'-lanterns and exhibition. Most Cooperative extension services will be able to tell you which varieties are best for your area. |
