Hamamelis mollis
( Coombe Wood Witch Hazel )
| Height 12 feet. Grown for their great fall color and fragrant winter blooms, witch hazels are very nice in a shrub border. In general, this is an erect shrub, leaves are lightly hairy, green, broadly ovate to 6 inches long, becoming yellow in the fall. Branches have a distintive zig zag pattern. Spider-like, golden yellow flowers appear on bare branches in winter. |
| Important Info : Smaller that H. x intermedia, the Chinese Witch Hazel is a good choice on smaller lots. Nice in flower arrangements too. |
