| A terrestrial, herbaceous orchid, with ribbed, lance-shaped leaves. Up to 15 flowers appear on spikes from spring to early summer. The flower has unusual features, the lower lip forming a cup, with a heart-shaped mark on the lobe, and the upper parts of the flower forming a helmet-shape. Can be grown in a damp border or a woodland garden, with moist, well-drained soil. Requires partial or deep shade. |
