| Populus grandidentata is a medium to large sized poplar, between 40 to 70 feet tall and 20 to 40 feet spread. It is pyramidal in youth, maturing to a somewhat irregularly rounded crown. It is very fast growing and can grow to 65 feet in 20 years. Foliage is dark green, with good yellow fall color. Prefers moist fertile soil, but adaptable to dry and sandy soils. It is an important timber species, native from Nova Scotia to Ontario, south to Illinois and North Carolina. |
