| Fagus crenata is a spreading tree. Leaves are ovate with distinctly toothed margins, glossy, medium green with silky-hair texture in spring, turning yellow in the fall. The bark is smooth and silvery. This species is native of Japan and are valued for their form and foliage. This makes a good specimen tree or a nice addition to a woodland garden. It can grow in a wide variety of soils, but salty soil stunts growth. |
