|As with other ivies, this plant should never be allowed to grow up the trunks of trees or to climb on wood. Water will vary by species, but most plants do fine with normal watering. This trailing vine will also grow with much success in anything from deep shade to full sun. If grown in full sun in warmer climates, make sure that ample water is recieved.
The American Ivy Society has divided ivies into several categories depending on leaf shape and type. The shapes include ivy, heart-shaped, fan, bird's foot, and curly. The types are miniature - all plants with leaves less than 1 inch long and delicate in appearance, Oddities - having unusual shape traits such as upright or non-vining, and variegated - leaves having more than color or a single color that is not green.
