Quercus bicolor
( Swamp White Oak )
| Quercus bicolor is a short limpy trucked oak that grows 50 to 60 feet in height and has a round-topped crown. Found in the wild and swampy areas, it produces an shiny light brown acorn about 1 inch long, usually paired, and covered about 1/3 by the involucre. This oak is generally considered to transplant and the winter silhouette more coarse than the Quercus alba. Native from Quebec to Georgia, west to Michigan and Arkansas, was first introduced in 1800. |
