| Papaver nudicaule is either a short lived perennial or annual, depending on climate. Mild winter areas it can be grown as an annual. The leaves are divided, covered with coarse hairs, typical of poppies. Delicate, graceful and slightly fragrant flowers bloom in shades of yellow, orange, salmon, rose, pink and whites or creams, 3 inches across. Sow seeds early in spring in cold winter areas, for summer flowers. In milder areas, set out summer sown plants in the fall for an early spring bloom. Picking the flowers frequently will encourage further flowering. |
