Ilex vomitoria
( Stokes Dwarf )
| 'Shilling's/Stokes Dwarf' is a more compact form than 'Nana'. Dense evergreen shrub with small, neat foliage, and purplish new growth, and red-orange berries. Leaves are ovate and shallowly toothed, to 1-1/2 inches long. Trouble-free, fast growing hedge or background for flower borders. Popular foundation plant. Durable and long-lived, but has stiff, brittle stems that makes it less than ideal for a parking area. Native to the South. Tolerant of any soil and salt spray. |
| Important Info : Leaves have extremly high cafine levels and if ingested could induce vomiting, thus the species name vomitoria. |
