| This is a biennial or short-lived perennial known for exceptional hardiness, tolerant of poor soils and little water. Foliage is wooly, silvery-gray. Ovate-lance-shaped leaves up to 7 inches long. Blooms in late summer with rounded, purple or pale purple flowers, 1 1/4 inch across with few flowers in terminal cymes that open singly. Often, flowers will remain through first frost. Self seeds freely. |
