| Native to the Eastern United States and west to Texas, this evergreen tree grows to a height of 10 to 20 feet and a width of 10-20 feet. May to June flowers are creamy white, fragrant, but not abundant. It is not common for younger plants to flower. Fruit follows the flowers, is 2 inches long and red. Excellent in wet or swampy areas. Acid soil a must. Tolerant of shade. An excellent tree for a patio, where oval green leaves with silvery undersides can be appreciated as they shimmer in the breeze. |
