|Silver King is an evergreen shrub, with an upright habit and an umbrella shaped top. It can accept pruning to keep it smaller, or trained as a tree with it's attractive curving trunk. The leaves are oval-round, 1 to 2 inches long and glossy, leathery, green leaves with silvery white margins. It is an inexpensive substitute for the garden because of it's heat, drought, and soil tolerance, but pest and disease problems seem to damper the possibilities. Watch for scale, thrips, or spider mites, as well as powdery mildew, where air is stagnant and humid. Locate in full sun to prevent mildew.
