Ocimum basilicum
( Purple Delight Sweet Basil )
| 'Purple Delight' is an excellent purple basil with no green showing and a strong flavor and scent. It has medium sized leaves and has stronger, more upright growth than 'Rubin'. It is very much like the original 'Dark Opal' before green starting showing up in the foliage.
Bushy plant with ovate, glossy, purple leaves. Flowers grown on spikes should be removed as they take too much energy away from the plant. Used for cooking, especially Italian and Thai dishes. Seeds may be sown in early spring or transplants set out after last frost. Full sun and regular waterings a must for full, healthy crop. |
| Important Info : Do not be disappointed if seeds seem to take a long time to germinate. |
