| Polygonum aubertii is a fast growing deciduous vine, may grow 10 to 15 feet tall in a single season. The foliage is bright green, new leaves have a reddish bronze hue. Small, fragrant flowers bloom in summer, ranging from greenish to white, sometimes with a pink tinge, borne abundantly on slender panicles. Fruit is not showy. It spreads by rhizomes and is very vigorous, tolerant of dry soils, almost a weed in some places. Japanese beetle may attack this plant. Has value as a quick cover, particularly where other vines wont grow. Native to China. |
