| Evergreen shrub with gray green or grayish fragrant foliage and lavender or purple flowers on long spikes. May be used as edging or hedge in herb gardens or in borders with similar plants. Needs full sun and fast-draining, loose soil. Most widely planted lavender used for perfume and sachets. For sachets, strip flowers from stems or cut clusters just when it begins to show color and dry in shady, cool area. The scent of lavender is said to have a calming effect. |
