| Pyracantha koidzumii is a large evergreen shrub for warmer climates, not hardy elsewhere. It can reach 8 to 20 feet tall, 8 to 12 feet spread. The growth habit is multi-stemmed, stiff and upright, needs pruning to be kept tidy. Foliage is dark green and lustrous. Late spring flowering, white, tiny, flowers on rounded racemes.
The decorative fruit are bright red berries. The shrub remains very abundantly covered with fruit, even birds do not seem to eat them. Prefers well drained soil, full sun, and tolerates hot, dry areas. Can be subject to lacebug, scab, blight, scale and leaf rollers. Many cultivars available, some are pest resistant.
