| An evergreen tree magnolia, with smooth and leathery leaves. Flowers are creamy white, about 1 inch across, blooming in May to June. Seed coat is a reddish orange appearing from July to January.
Native to the forests of Sierra Maestra of Cuba. Found at elevations of 2300-5900 feet. Known locally as 'Maranon de la Maestra' (Cashew of the Maestra). |
