| Viburnum farreri or Fragrant Viburnum is a loose, spreading shrub reaching 8 to 12 feet in height and spread. New foliage is bronzy, maturing to dark green, culminating in reddish-purple fall color. The mid spring flowers are pinkish red in bud then open to white with a pink tinge, borne on a loose panicle, 1 to 2 inches.
An early flowering Viburnum, sometimes suffering damage from late frost. The drupe is red to black, fruiting in the late summer. Various cultivars have been developed. Native to China. |
