| From spring to summer the species, sclarea blooms in cream and lilac to pink or blue flowers 1-1/4 inches long stalked at the end of the stem with prominent lilac bracts. This hairy perennial or biennial has irregularly toothed egg-shaped green leaves. Salvia can be planted in a sunny border, in a meadow or used for bedding and container planting. They grow best in fertile, humus and moist but well-drained soil. |
