Flowers are not nodding, but more or less erect with a broad, funnel-form corona, appearing in early spring. Leaves are thin, round and ribbed. Prefers sunny to semi-shaded site that dries out in summer.

N. asturiensis is the smallest of the trumpet-shaped species. Leaves are 3 inches long and directed outward. Small, solitary flowers, with yellow petals and yellow coronas, are borne on 3 to 6 inch stems, in very early spring.
